Caring for your New Kleen-Tex Mats
GENERAL CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS FOR KLEEN-TEX MATS
Many of the Kleen-Tex range of mats are manufactured for the commercial laundry industry and are therefore washable in commercial size washing machines and may be tumble dried.
In the event of not having access to a large washing machine, the following general rules may apply:
SENTINEL
The Kleen-Tex Sentinel mat is made from a polypropylene needle-punched wear surface that is vulcanised to a rubber backing. Due to this process, no adhesive is used and therefore the mat may be immersed in water or subjected to solvents without the bond being affected in any way.
General every day cleaning by means of vacuuming should be practised. Should the mat be stained however, any suitable detergent may be used and the mat hosed down with clean water after such cleaning.
The mat may then be hung up and should drip dry in less than an hour depending on conditions.
CUT-PILE NYLON
The Kleen-Tex cut-pile range of mats, are specifically made for professional cleaning. The most effective method is in a commercial size washing machine and drying in a tumble dryer.
The mats are made with a pile that allows granular dirt to fall down into the pile so as not to be tracked further by the next person to walk over the mat. This means that the mat will harbour dirt in the pile until it is removed. Turn the mat upside down and shake or beat gently in an area where the dirt is easily swept up. Once the bulk of the dirt is shaken out, vacuum thoroughly.
If the mats start to look dowdy, they can be taken to a suitable place and washed using a light cleaning agent such as “SKIP”, in diluted form, according to the instructions for cleaning clothing. Use a firm nylon brush for more stubborn dirt marks.
After cleaning, rinse with clean water and hang the mat out to dry. Do not hang the mats on a line that will sag in the middle and ultimately cause distortion. Rather hang over a solid pole.
